Linwood Preservation District and Friends

Linwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY.

Overview

Our power lies in neighborhood participation.
Together we will work as a united neighborhood to preserve,
protect, and beautify our unique and distinctive area.

Our Vision and Goals

We are very proud of our historic, tree-canopied, neighborhood, which showcases the work of famous local architects and many classic styles dating back well into the 1800's. With the 1978 designation of the Linwood Historic Preservation District by the City of Buffalo (see our history tab), residents have banded together to help nurture and protect this unique community, and the Linwood Preservation District and Friends was born.

As our community and membership evolves, so do our goals. We are working to make progress on the following:

  • Education and History: to assemble/ develop a collection of histories on private houses and properties, and to provide education and information to residents and visitors;
  • District Identity and Beautification: to create a distinctive gateway at the main entrance of our "neighborhood" at North St. and Linwood, and to enhance / standardize the streetscape;
  • Promotion of Linwood as a Community: to develop a sense of community, to increase membership, and to develop an emergency protocol;
  • Fundraising: to develop fundraising activities to support Association goals and projects.

For more information on these and other projects, see the activities tab.
